Afternoon at the fair

After picking Allison up from soccer camp, I surprised the girls by taking them to the fair! We saw exotic animals, including a lot of snakes (ugh) and a baby tiger! There were horses, veggies, canned goods, cakes and quilts to ogle over and then we headed over to the rides.

Abby really enjoyed her first carousel ride!

Allison ran into a friend and they road the mini-coaster together.

It was pretty hot so we decided to cool down with yummy ice cream cones.

Last night, while going through some recipes online, I came across a super easy recipe for Blueberry Lemon Bars and decided to give it a try - YUM!

Beach Camping

Last weekend, we went camping at the Oregon coast with Chris' parents. As the campground was full, we parked our trailer and their camper in some friends' wooded driveway. The beach ended up being super windy and cold, but our "camp" was sunny and warm!

The girls were so set on playing in the sand that we decided to bring some back to our "camp" from the beach. They were thrilled!

The girls - enjoying some quiet down time after a busy afternoon and cool shower. :)

What I've done when the weather was cool...

bake!

I tried a new banana bread recipe - one loaf w/ choc. chips & one w/out. Does anyone have a great banana bread recipe that makes really moist bread? Mine always ends up just a little dry. Still yummy though!

I also made lots of cookies - oatmeal raisin and M&M cookies. I froze half of each batch. The bad news? It's been so warm that no one's been baking so every time friends come over they get all excited that we have homemade cookies! I now have just one half batch of cookies left! I just made the cookies two weeks ago! I guess I know what I'll be doing the next time we have cool weather. :)

What we do indoors on a hot day...

build blanket forts!

Complete with a light lunch :)

blocks, blocks and more blocks

Our wonderful landlady visited us this weekend - all the way from Slovakia! We were so blessed to see her for the first time in two years. While emptying her remaining things from the building/shop out back, she decided to leave a few things for us...

like blocks! She gave the girls a HUGE tub of wooden blocks, which they love.

The girls played with these for at least four hours today - four hours!! I'm so excited to have this new rainy day activity!
